Forest Hill named Tennessee's Governor's Civics Seal Recipient

 

Forest Hill Elementary has been named a recipient of the Tennessee Governor’s Civics Seal for the 2024–2025 school year, recognizing the school’s strong commitment to civic education and student engagement. At Forest Hill, this achievement reflects the intentional work of social studies teachers who implemented meaningful, hands-on civics lessons at every grade level.

Kindergarten students celebrated and honored community heroes through a Veteran’s Day activity. First grade brought the democratic process to life by hosting a fun and interactive Cookie Election, while second graders conducted their own Candy Election, giving students a sweet but memorable lesson in voting.

Third grade students explored the significance of Patriots Day and Constitution Day. Fourth graders took their civic learning a step further by drafting and adopting their own classroom constitutions, learning firsthand how rules and responsibilities shape a community. In fifth grade, students participated in “Constitution 101” lessons, deepening their understanding of the structure and purpose of the Constitution.

Forest Hill’s recognition is part of a larger celebration across the district. Germantown Municipal School District was also honored as a Governor’s Civics Seal District after more than 80% of its schools were recognized as seal recipients.
